know yourself
God's view of you is far different than your own self-perception.
In general, people tend to value themselves by either their character, their surroundings, or their successes. When God shows that His value of you is not based in any of these criteria or even in you, but rather in HIM, your mind should be blown.
Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to bring good news to the Gentiles,
-------------This upholder of Jewish law to a level of religious fever that compelled Saul/Paul to kill the people of the WAY (new terms for the first people to follow Jesus), becomes God's instrument of Grace to the unclean, degenerate, horrible pagans?!-------------------------------------------------------
On a job application for God's special campaign, Saul/Paul should probably leave his track record out.........That's what I would suggest!
BUT GOD,
He had a plan for His creation. He had a plan for the passion of Paul to follow the Law of the Jewish people. God had Paul on his mind from before the beginning of time to show Jews and humanity, that anything by which we identify ourselves that is outside of God's plan and purpose accomplishes nothing, adds no value, and will only cause self-deception.
GOD SAYS,
You are mine, I choose you, I know you, I see you, I saved you, and you are valuable to me. For before I even created the air you breathe, the food you eat, or the ground you step on, I had a plan for you to be mine. Through my son, in my family, you are valuable, you are extraordinary. You are breath-taking. This is why I love you: YOU ARE MINE.
Paul shows us that no credential or past experience can promote or exclude you from God's Kingdom. God uses Paul to show us that any aspect of a life surrendered to God can be redeemed and used in joining the purpose of God's mission.
Ephesians is a book meant to raise your view to heaven and God's sovereignty.
When you see His view, you see only a love which you can never fully grasp, a value assessment which doesn't even involve you....Unconditional, unconstitutional, dangerously foolish!
Love outside of our own laws, even the laws of God.
I'd rather see myself through God's eyes, wouldn't you?
Take time, but know everyday you already make this choice.
