Politics: Choose LOVE over HATE....Oh PLEASE!

Choose love over hate.

I have been very disturbed by the political climate in America. I feel that the moderate views are being sidelined. If I don't identify pro or against a certain policy, I am deemed as being a coward, ignorant or hateful.

Those forcing anyone to a choice politically and demand a support to a particular party or political idea are ostracizing others. People forcing others into political boxes seem to be choosing a fearful response versus a thoughtful one, or if the person cares more about affiliation versus the implication of policy and its ramifications, those individuals seem to argue in a hateful manner. If people are more important than policies, then treat all people with respect when giving your opinion.

I am proud of my faith, but not all of the members of it. I can maintain my faith in determining my convictions about the role of government in providing equal tax benefits, freedoms, and safety and security. I can maintain a different set of standards for the faith community. This is not duplicitous. If I choose to vote democrat, I am not killing unborn children. If I vote republican, I am not heartless and a bigot. In most cases, I am voting on the role of government and the use of taxes in my communities. I determine my morality based on scripture and do not impose morality on those outside of the faith community. I desire freedom to be extended to everyone in our nation regardless of their own beliefs.

Let's stop being lazy or hateful in our political thoughts; instead, let us be kind and courteous. There is always more strength in the diversity of opinions. If you want to avoid group-think, start asking people whose views are in opposition to yours their thoughts on an issue. Then come to a conclusion.

I am choosing to love others in the political environment more divided than prior years. While most people seem to be digging in their heels I am choosing to take my shoes off, Let go of the tug-of-war rope and start reading the bills proposed on the government's publications, not on Twitter or Facebook, In being informed, I think we can all make better decisions.

I just don't think any of it matters if we do not have love.
